OUR BELIEFS

CLARITY IN THE WORD

We believe that every word of the Bible comes from God. We take serious every letter, every line, every promise of God. Because we believe the Bible is God's Word, we have clarity in what God says and certainty in what we believe.

CERTAINTY OF FAITH

God does not speak in ambiguous, but in certain terms. Throughout the Bible, he makes promises so that his people might have, as the writer to the Hebrews call it, "the full assurance of faith." (Hebrews 10:22) Rather than mere sentiment, faith is that which clings to the solid promises of God

COMFORT

The result of clearly understanding God's promises in all their certainty is this: comfort--comfort that our sins have been paid for, that God will redeem us from this broken world, and comfort that we pass onto one another in our group of believers.

We are a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod. Click here to find out more about our national church body.

OUR CORE VALUES

HOSPITALITY

Not only is hospitality characteristic of the South—it characterizes Christians in general. One way we seek to reflect the love of Christ is by showing hospitality, especially our guests.

EVANGELISM

Rather than another rulebook or tome of wisdom, the Bible is a record of God's grace to sinners. Put simply, it's good news. The best news in the world is meant to be shared. We seek to do just that with "gentleness and respect" (1 Peter 3:15).

COMMUNITY

In an increasingly isolated, divided, and disconnected world, we seek to build a caring community among our members, a community that reflects the compassion and love of Christ

OUR HISTORY

If there is one thing that defines the history and future of Lutheranism, it is complete reliance on the Word of God. In the 1700s, Lutherans first started living in the Lowcountry, expelled from Europe for their biblical convictions.

Several decades ago, a group of Christians in Savannah were searching for a church that stood on God's Word. That church was Christ Lutheran Church. In 1997, that church became Risen Savior Lutheran Church, our sister church in Pooler, GA. By God's grace, Risen Savior has undertaken the task of planting a church in Bluffton, SC.

Now, about three hundred years after Lutherans first came to the Lowcountry, we are still proud to take seriously every word, every promise, every person.

OUR STAFF

I (Erik) was born in San Jose, CA and spent most of my childhood in Modesto, CA. Growing up in a pastor's family, I decided to become a pastor early on in life.

I went to Martin Luther College to receive my bachelor of arts in biblical languages, then to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary to receive my master of divinty degree. In May of 2018, I was called to plant a church in Bluffton, SC.

It was also in May of 2018 that I married my wife, Amanda (née Smith). The Lord has blessed us with two daughters, Evelyn (3) and Penelope (1).

I've been blessed to serve a number of mission fields, including Russia, Alaska, and Atlanta.
